Yahoo News is reporting that "Residents of Squamish, B.C., say they’re on edge as a wildfire burns on a forested ridge above the community. Those in the community have been watching helicopter water bombers make repeated trips over the fire as gusty winds carry the smell of smoke back into the district."
Repeat trips. Look at that tiny bucket. That's like trying to put out a house fire with a watering can for plants. We've seen a lot of criminally negligent forest fire fighting over the years. LA, Maui, Chile even here in Canada. Back burns in windy conditions that make the fire much worse. Oh this is all part of the science. No it's not. It's all part of an agenda to climatize us for insanity.
In 2023 a 40 year first fire fighting veteran said BC Wildfire Service has lost its way. Indeed they have. We need more air support. Water bombers not those tiny little buckets. The experts say helicopters are more accurate. Those aren't experts. The more water the more effective it is. It's that simple.
This isn't a climate change debate. This is a forest fire management debate. In order for us to adjust to climate change we need to be more effective at forest fire management. Fighting a forest fire with a shovel and a bucket is not effective. We need more air support. We need better air support.
BC NDP are incompetent, they rather gather votes for the next election than actually push forward new ideas.
ReplyDeleteThey got rid of bridge tolls but they suck at fighting forest fires.
DeleteYou're right, the size of that bucket is laughable. It's for pinpoint problems, not anything of any size. We don't have pinpoint problems, we have actual forest fires. The helicopter appears to be a Bell 206 Long Ranger, operating costs per hour about $400 USD, bucket capacity 550L/145 US Gallons. The Super Scooper CL215 is expensive, $6K-$10.5K per hour, 1400 US Gallons. Fighting big fires is expensive.
ReplyDeleteIf it was just one or two things they mess up on it could be whatever, but when they mess up everything, it's deliberate. From there we go to "Why would they do that?" It's not just firefighting. It's literally everything. You name it.
"Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity." W.B Yeats
As far as the cost goes, yeah if you're leasing it from someone else it's expensive. That's why you buy one, or two or a fleet. The narrative claims climate change means we're going to have more forest fires. Then buy a freaking fleet of water bombers and deal with it. Don't throw you hands up in the air just to use these events as an excuse to issue evacuation orders and force everyone into a 15 minute city.
DeleteI agree Dennis, but trees dont vote! DT eastside counsellors, and drug addicts do.
DeleteIndeed. As I mentioned in the update on the blog post, small float planes are cheaper and more effective than helicopters. We used those in BC for years.
Delete" Issue evacuation orders and force everyone into a 15 minute city"
ReplyDeletePractice for the future. Everything has a purpose, don't you know. ;-)
